Minds Blown

The reaction to the launching of the sputnik sattelite was tremendous, its shockwaves reaching to the ends of the earth. The rivals of the soviet union tried the hardest to be better than the, in their minds, ignorant and barbaric people that accomplished this task. America, with its ego piled high with the events of WWII. When this superpower and the biggest rival to the soviet union saw this, they were shocked. The general public understood this achievment and hated it. In some extreme cases of stigma for the soviet union many newspapers claimed that the whole operation was faked. This proves that the competetion that the soviet union put up was recognized and was a challenge that sparked the events that we will be discussing in Lasting Legacy.
